You start the journey in the capital Dhaka, with its thousands of rickshaws an experience in itself. By train you drive to the village of Tangail, which is further explored by rickshaw. The train takes you further to the silk city of Rajshahi, where you’ll visit several temples and take a boat trip on the Ganges. Continue by train to Khulna to explore the Sundarbans, the world’s largest mangrove forest, by boat. Then board a nostalgic radar boat, one of the last in the world still in daily use, and sail back to Dhaka.

Day 1 arrival Dhaka
Today we’ll start our journey in the busy capital of Bangladesh. The experience of visiting Dhaka is overwhelming. What a city, love it and hate it, and that at the same time. You stand in traffic for hours, but once in the old town, you’ll be amazed.
Welcome to the “Rickshaw Capital of the World”, nothing like the motorized tuk-tuks that make the streets of Delhi and Bangkok unsafe, no, the old-fashioned, nostalgic bicycle rickshaw. Four hundred thousand of them in Dhaka alone. Of course you can take a rickshaw trip through the old town, there is no better way to explore the city. You’ll feel like you’re in a movie, so much happening, so much street life, so many street vendors, so many shops and above all, a lot of people who move through the narrow alleys of this overwhelming city.
Day 2 Tangail
Today, after breakfast, you will be transferred to Dhaka Central Railway Station. Here we’ll take the train for a short ride to Tangail, a rural village in the northwest of the country. Once you arrive, you will be taken by tuk tuk to a small village where you can experience the village life and surrounding cultural heritage. Afterwards you will visit a local villager for a cup of tea. Later, you will visit the beautiful Bengali terracotta Atia Mosque, built in the year 1610 AD. In the evening we’ll return to the hotel where you can enjoy a delicious Bengali meal.
Day 3 Boat trip on the Ganges
In the morning you will be transferred to the station where you will take a train to Rajshahi; the silk city of Bangladesh. Along the way we will meet countless people and see many different landscapes. On arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon we’ll visit the Varendra Research Museum (one of the best in Bangladesh).
Day 4 Rajshahi
After breakfast – and a short stop at the lively morning market – we’ll be on our way to the beautiful temple city of Puthia. Between the greenery and along the banks of several lakes are several Hindu palaces from the 16th century of the Raja of Puthia. The palaces are again built in terracotta and contrast beautifully with the green surroundings. Many decorations on and in the buildings; the largest lingam in the country is located in the Bhubaneshwar Shiva temple. This is also the most remarkable structure of this beautiful palace town.
After visiting the temples and the beautifully and colorfully dressed Bengal, we will explore the Santhal capres. Rajshahi is an important silk production center on the border with India. In the afternoon we will visit a silk factory to get a closer look at the process from caterpillar to silk.
Day 5 Khulna
In the morning we’ll take the train to Khulna. Once there we travel further to the hotel. In the afternoon we will walk through the Port City of Khulna and browse the local markets. Enjoy the sunset in the area of Rupsha Ghat. At the end of the day we’ll visit the interesting Boro bazaar night market!
Day 6 Sundarbans
Today we will take a boat trip all day long! In the morning we’ll board a Sundarbans motorboat in Mongla and go towards the Sundarbans Mangrove Forest. This beautiful forest is the largest mangrove forest of its kind and during this day trip we will sail through several channels, visit the Harbaria Eco forest station and you will spot dolphins and crocodiles. In the afternoon we’ll disembark at a Sundarbans Eco Cottage; an eco-village located in a fishing village with beautiful surroundings. The eco-village built of bamboo and wood is a special place of silence and tranquility. We will spend the night here tonight.
Day 7 Bagerhat
In the morning we’ll travel to Mongal where we’ll be picked up to drive to Hularbat by car. On the way we will visit Bagerhat. This town, which is protected by UNESCO, has several special mosques from the Middle Ages. The most special and most beautiful is the so-called ’60-domed mosque’; this Shai Gumbad mosque actually has 77 domes and looks like a fortified fortress. We will also visit the mausoleum of Khan Jahan Ali and several other 15th century mosques such as the 9-domed mosque and smaller 1-dome mosques. The mosques are located in a beautiful rural area and because there are many pilgrims, there is always something to do. Time permitting, we will also visit some undiscovered mosques and temples. In the afternoon we’ll board the boat to Dhaka. Enjoy life on the river and experience what it is like to sail on the world’s largest river delta. You will spend the night on this boat!
Day 8 Dhaka
In the morning we will reach Dhaka. After you leave the boat and go ashore in Dhaka, we can explore this city further and visit the historical part of the city with the Sadarghat harbour, see the Star Mosque, the Armenian Church, the Parliament, the beautiful Hall of Curzon, the University of Dhaka, the Dhakeshwari Temple and the Fort of Aurangabad and more…!
Day 9 Departure
Today we’ll bring you to the airport where you can take your flight back.
